1. Categories

 

Choosing the right business category can make or break your business when it comes to local results and relevant traffic, so make sure you get this right. A good place to start is by inspecting your top performing competitors and checking out which categories they’re using. It’s very likely that you’ll see a trend

 

2. Reviews

 

If you’ve spent any time in sales then you know how influential social proof is when it comes to converting shoppers into customers and buyers. Having a lot of great reviews is not only an important ranking factor to help elevate your position but it will also work to increase your click-through-rates and help you steal more customers away from your competition. 

 

3. Website Links

 

Generally it’s best to link your GMB to your home page unless you’re a multi-location business, in which case I’d recommend creating location specific landing pages and linking to those.

 

4. NAP ( Name, Address, Phone Number )

 

It’s highly important that your business name, address, and phone number are as consistent as possible across the web so your business looks trustworthy and your business info is crystal clear to search engines and shoppers alike. 

 

5. Complete Profile

 

Potential customers are deciding whether or not to do business with you based on the information in your Google My Business listing – don’t leave it incomplete! Hours, photos, additional contact information, and using Google posts can all help you perform better.
